What is this hole?

Featured Replies

Noticed a hole in the scuttle trim this morning - passenger side. Not sure if there's always been a hole and I've only just noticed or if this is a new hole - should there be something covering it? Part no? I don't like having a hole [emoji15]post-112125-14265789384296_thumb.jpg

Normally a cover over that

A hole is an area of a component where there is no material, but that's not important right now.

That's for the driver's side wiper spindle on wrong-hand drive cars.

They get pushed out when folks have a mare removing the scuttle panel

Yea mine is missing also and the scuttle doesn't fit right

Yeh mine fell out, fortunately it was lying in the scuttle gutter. Superglue still going strong.

Don't suppose anyone has a spare one lying around or a part number?

Its a molded breakout section - each side of the scuttle panel is a one piece injection molded part

Its a new panel or a little piece of gaffer tape

No, you can buy them. I bought one for my old mkI after the original went walkies. Took the dealer 3 attempts to order the right part, even after I took the parts guy out to my car and pointed at the hole. It only cost £1 or something.

So how did it connect on your panel ?

On the two I've replaced, the pop out bit was held in place by two pieces of sprue (like an airfix model kit)

It just clipped in.  It stayed in place until I sold the car, probably 3-4 years without issue.

Also IIRC the two blanks are different shapes for some reason.

In that case the reason mine pipped out is because the clips had broken, glued it back in.
