First Skoda since the VW takeover

Featured Replies

Having had a Estelle 120 and (pre VW) Favorit estate (136 -non fuel injection)

to cut a long story short we are now proud owners of 2011 Octavia estate (1.6 CR diesel) in Elegance trim - the rest if you can be bothered is below! ;)

- its fair to say things seemed to have moved on , as has the price and spec no longer in the bargain bucket lol

- had a fair few 'traditional large estates' mostly old volvo's 'til the fuel went up

- then onto a mix of french s*ite - picasso, kangoo, tepee - vans with windows type of thing: kangoo was excellent and only cost a few hundred quid.  But we wont be having any more peugeot/citroen too much hassle!!  The vans are great for small children age, sliding doors are very practical..

- huge problems with latest peugeot 1.6 hdi - Emmisions, Electrics, Odd tyre wear

- looked at a similar age Golf Estate to our Peugeot and also possibly a new Dacia  - but the Octavia seemed much nicer in terms of interior space, both the Golf and Dacia seemed to rival boot space but seemed claustrophobic in the cabin.  A mate summed it up for me saying you've just moaned about 2 out of 3 french cars, get a budget VW not a budget Renault lol!

So far we are very pleased with the Octavia - but then any new car is nice if you've just got rid of one that's done your nut in!! - £30 tax and impressive Mpg is a good start, and the looks/driving is good too - hopefully long term reliability ? :)  photo later - lol

Hi and welcome to Briskoda.

Good choice of car, you'll struggle to find such a roomy car as the Octavia, with the seats folded it's huge. The elegance trim gives you all of the things you need and you should be looking at mid 50's for the mpg.
