Permanent paint restoration

Featured Replies

Ok guys not Skoda related but its for my wife's 94 eunos roadster. Its in a right state at the moment swirl wise but the bonnet and boot have the beginings of colour fade that looks blotchy.

I haven't hit it properly yet but a quick hand polish with p1 on the boot in a corner brought it back to a lush gloss. I sealed it with abyss but two months on its starting to fade again and rain seems to stain it

I'm thinking if I give it a full correction it will look pretty respectable. I've not used it before but would something like gtechniq c1 possibly provide a permanent fix? (for a year or two anyway) I've been very impressed with their glass sealant and trim restorer so am willing to try it as it says it chemically bonds to the paint

Now I know that really the car needs a respray but that can wait as we just don't have the money at the moment what with her other projects. So something that can make it look good for another few years is what I'm after.

Do you have access to a paint thickness gauge?

But yes, a nice coating would serve you well, Gtechniq or Cquartz or something like Gyeon.

Yeah I've got a paint thickness gauge. There are a few thin spots, one on the rear left quarter which some one has already mopped through a repair that has clear on but the rest is solid black and has enough for me to give it a really good attack.

That's cool to hear. I will have a butchers tonight at some of the permanent paint sealants

Let us know how you get on

Ok so we have ordered a c1+ kit which comes with c2v3 and a bottle of I1 for the ragtop as well. Fingers crossed we get a chance to hit it in the next few weeks.
