Just wondering can anyone shed some light on this for me.Now and again my idle speed goes up from its normal 750 up to 1000 and at the same time the stop /start function ceases to work and is accompanied by an indicator on my dash showing that it is switched off.I understand about the dpf regenerating etc ,is this linked in any way????

During regeneration the engine idle speed is increased to raise exhaust temperature in order to burn off the soot collected in the DPF 

Its regen will happen every few hundred miles nothing to worry about

Nice to learn these things prior to taking ownership of my 2.0ltr TDi
