Project... Dirty Polo!

Featured Replies

Bought a polo a few month ago with a failed timing chain, been fixing it slowly since buying it.

However, I bought it over the phone without seing it! He said it had broken down, parked up and left for about 8 month before I purchased it.

...come delivery day, he dropped it off on a trailer and to my surprise, it was the filthiest car I've ever seen! I actually said to him, do you not want anything out of it and he said well... The radio?!

Pictures speak a thousand words.

The outside also, poctures don't do it justice... I Know it looks dirty, but it's really thick dirt, layers and layers. I've tried to take pictures, then close ups to show how bad it is, even some at an angle for the boot where it's a good 10mm of dirt!

I've found items of male and female clothing so far. One day at a time....

Looking forward to the after pictures though :D

Citrus prewash is gonna take a hammering!!

Holy.......!!!

That is a total mess!!

One thing is for sure...The satisfaction will be immense!!

I'd love to clean that!

And he did take the radio too ha ha!

That's that bad it looks like I've owned it!

Blimey! Good luck! After pictures would be great!

The shame, how could you look someone in the eye and say "yeah, this is me". On the biright side 20 mins with a litter poker and a few rubble sacks and you've added 5mpg

I'd plant a few potatoes on it's outside and a few mushrooms inside. Nice little potato and mushroom soup larder if you see what I mean.

Wow - pretty shocking - but i'm sure you will do a great job on it!

Looks to me like it's been Valeted by Lee01    :giggle:

The outside got a quick wash over with citrus prewash, hosed off, then autoglym bodywork shampoo with a normal noodle mit. Same treatment on the door shuts but only quickly. I didn't put much effort into it, no wax or sealants used, was just so I can use it tomorrow!

The inside is empty, filled a black bag and two small carrier bags, trust me, It got worse under what you can see. So many sweets, crisps, chocolate and McDonald's chips glued to the carpet! Gloves and a mask were needed!

I then hooverd the full car then got the wet vac onto it. The dash was wiped over with a microfibre cloth with autoglym interior plastic and rubber cleaner, was done in about an hour just to have it usable. When I get more time it will get a better treatment.

That's them after a wet vac!

They are actually clean now :D

I guess they do look bad in some pictures, but they are still wet in places so makes it look dirty.

The water cleared up coming through the machine so wasn't getting much more out.

I'll risk my jeans and sit in them for a few weeks until I get a full free day, then remove them from the car and do another full sweep over everything, was difficult getting down the side of them today to do the carpets and know I've missed a few places. It was only a quick clean up.

We'll call it stage 1 of 10 then, it's had a pre-wash inside and out.

Looks miles better. Good work!

It was hard work :D

It's still at the auto electrician getting some work done so will update this again once I've got it back and done the outside.
