Dear friends of Skoda,  I have just bought an Octavia combi 1.9 tdi 66kW from 2003 with an ALH engine and a EGR gearbox + 300.000km milage.

Not to the biggest surprise, the gearbox disintegrated after 2 weeks when my wife drove the car  in Denmark (without major warning, and most likely not her fault).

I have found another EGR gearbox at the largest distributor of second hand gearboxes in Scandinavia. It is from a 2001 VW Golf IV - also ALH engine.

The distributor says it will fit and the Danish workshops says one should be careful "maybe flanges for the drive axels don't fit". I don't have much faith in Danish workshops, and only a bit more faith in the distributor.

Can anybody shred a qualified light on this issue?

Warm regards

ALH have 02j gearbox and will fit any chassis any car,Golf,Seat,Octavia....

Even a golf gti and VRS octy will fit

Even has the same selector, same linkage
