Cornering font fogs with vcds etc

Featured Replies

Am looking at changing my mk7 gtd golf for the Octavia and was wondering are the cornering fogs able to be coded with vcds? I know the intelligent high beam assist can which would be another thing to do and save £310 on.

Anything else I don't need to order :D

High Beam Assist. That can be done with VCDS

Sent from my Galaxy S5

Why are all these features disabled?

Weve just got a new car and all such features are enabled as standard

Even my daughter's 10 plate Ibiza 1.4 SE has Cornering fogs enabled as standard

It's so the less informed spend 105 quid on fog lights and 310 quid on high beam assist. Nothing new as vw do the same. I just want to check coming from the golf I don't need to watch out for something I have now and won't get on the Octavia.

Can these VCDS mods be easily disabled prior to handing a car back ?

Think Cornering Fogs and HBA are Paid options from the Factory.

Yes..If you have VCDS

But why would you need to?

It will go straight to an auction

It is a bit crap of VAG to do that.

If the car has the necessary hardware then they should really activate it from the factory....paying hundreds of pounds for functionality you can activate with an ODB cable and laptop is borderline fraudulent IMHO.

Id get cornering fogs activated on mine but personally find them of little use.

Back in the days of IT Mainframes, 40 or so years ago,  a company sold a system with X power for X pounds, a system with double the power cost 2X pounds and difference was to remove a jumper from the backplane to run at twice the clock speed and enable extra bus width.  If the customer wanted a performance upgrade at a later stage they had to pay the extra X pounds and an engineer would take the system down for 2 days to make it look value for money and then just remove the jumper.
