Returning to the Skoda family!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

New member here.

Needs must, and my old faithful Merc decided to become uneconomic to repair over the weekend, so the hunt was on for a replacement car.

Many years ago (in my mis-spent youth) I had not only an old Estelle, but later a couple of Favorits and, later still, a Felicia 1.9D. It would be fair to say that Skoda held a special place in my heart (my late father had two Estelles, one of which I inherited when I was 17)

Spotted an advert in Autotrader for a Felicia Estate locally, at a dealers, for a mere £440 so the credit card got taken for a walk down there.

1997, 1.3LXi Estate, 93,000 miles on the clock, MOT to July 2015. A quick test drive round the industrial estate and a look underneath at the (fairly rust-free, considering the year) chassis was all the convincing I needed.

"Sally" (as the wife named her) came home with me a couple of hours later!

So far, a couple of hundred miles later, I'm very pleased. Took a bit of getting used to with no PAS (I've been spoilt, clearly!) but the road noise from what appears to be Chinese ditchfinder tyres is going to be an issue, I feel, at the moment (no radio, either, yet) - unless I've got a b*ggered bearing somewhere, but I don't think so.

Link to advert here, for those who'd like to see her in all her glory (I've cleaned her thoroughly since these were taken)... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201503201904696/sort/default/make/skoda/radius/5/channel/cars/page/1/postcode/da26bw/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/price-to/1000/usedcars?logcode=p
