The mystery of the airbag warning light with no fault codes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I own a 2002 Skoda Octavia Mk1 1.8T Elegance Auto,

I'm new to the world of diagnostics, so not sure what's a-happening but when I start the car, I get an airbag fault warning bell and message, then the light remains on. A friend with an OBD2 scanner tested it, but no fault codes came up, and physically the wiring underneath the seats etc looks fine.

Any ideas or ways to remove the warning?

I'm in Westbury, Wiltshire

Thank you everyone

I am guessing this is a generic fault code scanner. Very rarely do these scan anything other than the engine ECU, you need a scanner which will scan the airbag ECU. The light is on, so there is a fault code its just the scanner used cannot read the ECU.

There are a number of members local to you with VCDS who can help, if you look at the VCDS map at the top of this page and message a member then I am sure they will help.
