Featured Replies

Hello hoping someone my be able to help

My girlfriend has recently got a fabia vrs 1.9tdi 55plate.

She was driving it yeaterdy and engine manangenent light come on so she took it home and left it!she returned to start her car this morning and it wouldn't start!any ideas what's up with it? Thanks greg

It could be anything from a long list of things!

We need more details:

How old is the battery?

Are there any lights on the dash when turning the key?

Does the engine turn over?

Does the fuel pump sound when turning the key?

Have you tried jump or bump starting it?

Unsure of age of battery as car has just been bought!fuel pump is still priming.when u turn the key all lights go on then go off but engine management light remains on!i am going to jump start it tonight but was just the engine management light that's on that was worrying me thanks greg

Would check battery first, however i had this fault once and it turned out to be engine management fuse that had gone.

Get it scanned for fault codes and take to from there.

I will check the battery she hardly drives the car so might need a good run to recharge the car?so there might not be a problem just a fuse has blown bringing on the engine management light?i will check all this stuff tonight thanks folks

Short trips are as bad as no trips for a diesel car and battery. A good long run out may bring some more charge into the battery and prove to be a solution, were there any receipts with the car, for parts/services etc? Might be one for a battery and therefore a date. If not, it could be that it's the original and so is more than likely due a new one. Especially if it is getting very little use, therefore very little charge.

As Jars says: scanning the car will reveal whatever is wrong.

Not definately fuse, was just saying once my car did same thing and for two days couldnt get it started. After trying everything else I decided to check fuses and sure enough engine management fuse had gone, changed it and everything started up. Lol

The car was still running when her engine manangenent light came on! I will check the fuse aswell!cheerz for the help

Mine was too, it managed 28 miles down m1 in limp mode parked up then wouldnt start. But i would guess battery first, or like in a thread that somebody started couple of days ago think that turned out to be the wire to the starter motor.
