Joining the fold with an Octavia (Mk3) Scout

Featured Replies

Hi all

After finding my BMW 3-series in the throes of negative equity, I'm getting shot of it and have ordered a new Octavia Scout.

I found a great leasing deal, almost my chance, whilst looking into a Golf GTD; I discovered I could get a Scout DSG, with the same engine, more toys (on balance) and a lot more space for quite a lot less than the Golf, and about half what I'm paying for the BMW.  No brainer really!

Haven't been majorly impressed with my local dealer so far considering Skoda's reputation for customer service.  I got a good deal, but had to really push for it and get past all the usual car dealer guff where they try and make you buy something they have in stock without letting you even see it (let alone drive it), telling you the deal they've not quite given you the full details of is 'for today only'.

I took some delight in listening to their patter and then wheeling out a lease deal from another Skoda dealer that was about half what they were asking for and telling them to honour their advertised price match.

Anyway, I've babbled enough, I now need to knuckle down and wait the 12 weeks before my new baby arrives, so I can tell you what I think of it.

I'm a bit of a car anorak so you may hear quite a lot from me if this is a vibrant and active forum.

All the best

Mark

I would be interested in your opinion of the Scout. A friend of mine is looking to changes cars soon. He likes my Superb but I think a Scout would suit him better. Farm track up to his house is a bit rough.
