Car resonating - possible wheel bearing gone?

My vRS started resonating last week - it sounds like it's got a naff aftermarket exhaust fitted once it goes above 30mph, however it's speed (not engine speed) dependent and would initially go quiet if I turned left (this change is now minimal). From what I've read online, I think it could be a rear wheel bearing (I don't feel any vibrations through the steering wheel so I guess not front), presumably on the left of the car because of the noise change under cornering.

Is there anything else that might reproduce the same symptom (speed dependent resonance), such as a heat shield or exhaust mounting coming loose? And how much should I look to pay to get it sorted? Any recommendations for a reasonable and reliable garage near Loughborough would be great too!

Certainly sounds like a rear bearing, especially if turning stops the noise (as you shift the weight of the car off the worn bearing).

The part will be cheap as chips, even if they replace the entire hub.. you're just looking at labour really, I reckon about 2 hours depending on your garage.

Does sound like a bearing. I had 2 front ones done, wish I'd just got hubs as it took them 4-5 hours labour to press them out. Their press couldn't do it so they had to take the hub elsewhere. So yes part is cheap and if you're lucky you could be talking 1-2 hours a wheel. But be prepared for them having a nightmare and paying up to 3 hours a wheel. One of those things that's got to be done so you've just got to swallow it. I had both front done mind I'm not keen on doing bearings as singles, but this is less of an issue on the rear.
