  1. Whatever's buckled your wheel (large pot hole, hitting a kerb, having the wheel hit whilst parked at angle etc etc) has possibly bent a track rod. No amount of wheel balancing, pressure fettling etc will fix it if it's the case. The wheel alignment has likely 'fixed' them all to track true, just no longer true to the steering wheel being centered. I'd ask a friendly garage to get it on the ramps and have a look, should only cost a packet of decent biscuits.
  2. I'm running a MIB2 Amundsen from a Yeti in my Mk2 Superb and I quite regularly get random Android Auto disconnects (it drops USB connection and tries to use Mirror Mode, fails, then goes back to Smart etc), DAB often simply loses all signal etc so wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade the firmware and if so, what version do I need, I think P0359T is the latest available for my unit? Also, I assume that if upgrading's possible, it won't lose the Android Auto/Carplay or is this something that would need to be re-enabled via VCDS/MIBToolbox? Device Part Num: 5L0035680C Current FW: MST2_EU_SK_PQ_P0253T Hardware: H22 Software MU: 0253 Software Ver: H25.14.89_STD2NavPQ_EU Thanks!
  3. Hi all, I tagged this question onto a separate thread, but thought it was clearer to a make a new one to potentionally help others in the future with searches etc. I'm running a MIB2 Amundsen from a Yeti in my Mk2 Superb (i.e The PQ platform 'full' headunit model, not a "display in console with the main unit in the glovebox" setup). I quite regularly get random Android Auto disconnects (it drops USB connection and tries to use Mirror Mode, fails, then goes back to Smart etc), DAB often simply loses all signal etc so wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade the firmware and if so, what 'version' do I need to be looking for? Also, I assume that if upgrading's possible, it won't lose the Android Auto/Carplay or is this something that would need to be re-enabled via VCDS and MIBToolbox? Device Part Num: 5L0035680C Current FW: MST2_EU_SK_PQ_P0253T Hardware: H22 Software MU: 0253 Software Ver: H25.14.89_STD2NavPQ_EU Thanks!
  4. Couple of quick questions please.. I'm running a MIB2 Amundsen from a Yeti in my Mk2 Superb (i.e The 'full' headunit model, not display in console with the main unit in the glovebox). I quite regularly get Android Auto disconnects (it drops connection and tries to use Mirror Mode, fails, then goes back to Smart etc) so wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade the firmware & software and if so, what 'model' do I need to be looking for. Also, I assume that if upgrading's possible, it won't lose the Android Auto/Carplay licensing or is this something that can be re-enabled via VCDS? Device Part Num: 5L0035680C Hardware: H22 Software: 0253 Thanks!
  5. Yep, OP is really lucky that the ballast is just mounted to the rear of the light unit. On the Mk2 non-facelift, it's mounted under the housing.. so the only way to get to it is a bumper off job, as I found out one winter's morning when the 'bulb out' warning lit up.
  6. I recently had the same issue - Windscreen seal had gone. In order to trace the leak, I had to drop the roof liner to check the rail bolt holes etc... I took the opportunity to dye the liner (and all other boring beige/grey fabrics) black. Did the same with all the plastics, swapped the grab handles & visors for Audi A4 ones etc. Hardest part of the job is getting the grab handles off, as the annoying little plastic wedges that lock them into place are a right ballache to remove. Turns the interior into a much more (IMO) classy/sporty 'S-Line' or 'VRS' looking trim level.
  7. Couldn't find a way to edit my post, so thought I'd just reply. The issue is the SW version on the MIB.. it needs to be a 4xx version basically.
  8. Hey Oli.. Don't suppose you ever found a fix for the radio clock being at midnight? I've been happily running my MIB2 unit for ages now, but the clock thing is just such an annoying little bug! I thought it might have been resolved when I fitted a newer DAB sharkfin (I've got the roof liner off as I'm dying it black), but nope.. got me a whole load of DAB channels, but the clock still says it's permanantly midnight!
  9. Hmm.. maybe it's the actual bond that's gone then and it might indeed need a trip to Autoglass or whatever. The 'stixall' tube for £6 is looking mighty tempting and hundreds of pounds cheaper though. 😄 I don't have a sunroof, the scuttle drains are clear and I regularly whip the arch liners out to clear out the crap there too. I checked all of that when I noticed I was getting a lot of condensation forming on the inside a few months back, so it's possibly been on its way out for a while.
  10. So, after sitting in the car at some traffic lights this morning in the peeing down rain, I noticed that some drips of water were slowly making their way down the inside of my windscreen near the passenger A-pillar. A quick bit of investigation later and I can see there's a about a 10mm chunk of the rubber seal that sits above & behind the top of windscreen missing, right at the edge of the glass and exactly where the water seemded to be making its way in. I assume it's simply got old and brittle (like the best of us!) and come away during a pressure wash or something. I know you can remove the thicker windscreen trim on each side, but I'm not sure if the upper one is a replaceable part without removing the whole windscreen? If it is, does anyone know the part number? If not, I think I'll have to clean it all up as best as possible then crack out the black sealant!
  11. Yes, basically. As long as the modules are supported then you can happily swap the steering wheel from another later model. I replaced my non-facelift wheel with a 'flappy paddle' flat-bottomed one from a later Octavia, all functions worked exactly as before and I just needed to enable the wheel paddles via VCDS to get them working too. Just have a search on here and the relevant post will come up with the part numbers etc.
  12. The tailgate liner just pulls off, it's held in place by incredibly annoying metal clips that are a pain in the balls to realign when you want to put it back! Start at the base, working toward the roof of the car.. be careful it doesn't just drop though, as the two tiny lights in the trim panel are only attached by two very thin wires which can snap off if you don't have the weight of the panel supported when it drops.
  13. Yeah, tonnes of us have.. just have a quick search on here and you'll find the relevant ones (such as 'Cree' branded ones) that don't trigger Canbus errors etc.
  14. Certainly sounds like contamination in the clearcoat.. I'd use a fallout remover first (something like Iron-X) then a claybar. You'll likely need to polish the paint afterwards as claying can cause marring, but after that it should bring your paint back to normal.
  15. Nope, it's a direct replacement.
  16. Looks like a decent quality kit, how much are they? Very few cars were optioned with the fronts to be honest but I suppose if it's something you've gotten really used to then it's nice to have.. fitting the £12 rear view camera handle was a revelation.
  17. As Langers says, yes you can, but you'll need VCDS or OBDII to change it, it's not available directly from your car's settings.
  18. Wrapping is pretty much your best option, the trim tends to be bonded to the body panels, it's not just clipped on. Decent vinyl wrap will last years, not like plastidip.
  19. It's literally called OBDEleven as James says. OBDEleven
  20. What have you enabled via VCDS? There's about three or four options that need to be enabled within the 5F coding module, all pretty self explanatory (mentions Apple Car Play, Premium connectivity etc)
  21. Still on original pads at 100k?! They must have been like Rizla papers
  22. It's also honestly not worth trying to service the DSG yourself, the fluids and filter alone are around £120 and a decent independant specialist will do the whole job for around £150. Needs servicing ever 40k miles, so yours should have been done a long time ago and is nearly due it's second.
  23. Yeah, that trim is part of the seal (I'll be gloss wrapping that).. I'm talking about the trim that runs along the midline of the doors Thanks for the warning though anyway.
  24. Hi Sophie, are you based in the NW? I had a message from a guy I know yesterday (won't mention here just yet) looking to buy my old Columbus unit for this exact car, even using that same photo of the missing front plate!! So what's the deal here?
