Passengers kept at bay!

Featured Replies

My Octy is causing me marital problems. It is very relutant to let my wife and kids in when I press the unlock button on the key fob. :P Even when I press it twice, or three times. Always opens the drivers door, but it does not like opening the passenger doors. Anyone got any tips?

I Found this with the Fabia when I had it first...... but the solution was

not to hesitate with the second press of the zapper ..... ie press twice

within 2 seconds ..... hope this resolves your problem ........

Alternative that always works - open your door. As you open it (or once you've got in, depending on mood/preference ;) hehe) press the door unlock button in the car itself, rather than using the keyfob. That will do it.

If you follow Pete's instructions it should work, there is a bit of a rhythm to it. Too fast and it won't work, too slow and it won't work. On the Fabia it's basically press-hear-the-click-press-click noises again.

(where click = the central locking doing something).

You'll soon get the hang of it :)

If you pay a visit to your dealers they should be able to work some magic to enable all doors to open with one touch of the button.

Passengers can only slow you down though! ;)

I have this problem aswell, it drives me nuts.

Today in the car park ; I had the baby in one hand and the key in the other and the bloody rear door would not unlock, in the end it must have looked like i was breaking in because i had pulled the door so many times.

Press - pull - nothing - press - pull - nothing - press - pull - nothing

If its not that its swmbo shouting "YOU NEVER OPEN MY DOOR".

Do you ever have the one where you press the fob and get in, swmbo cant get in because her door wont open so she starts pulling the handle outside before you press the button inside, you press the button inside but it wont open the door because swmbo is pulling the handle outside, and so it goes on.

Next visit to the dealer im getting that turned off (good idea if it worked).

used to have trouble but now worked it out! Click to open, when you here the door click press open button again, all doors unlocked, it's only amatter of 1 second delay to get it working. keep trying

 Thanks guys. You have been very helpful and given me and my wife a chuckle as well

Could say you pressed you're wife's buttons right ;)

Glad you're sorted though :D

You can get the dealer to turn off this feature if you don't like it, or if you are near someone with VAGCOM on this site, they can toggle the feature on/off too :)

Overall guys, should i get this disabled in my new car before I pick it up. I had it on my Freelander and thought it was a good idea but if it's going to **** me off when carrying work home or getting the kids into the car i'd sooner not bother.

It took me 3 months to get the hang of it. If you do it too quickly it doesn't work. If you do too slowly it doesn't work. As others have said, wait about 1 second between presses.

To go slightly off topic, I found at the weekend that (with the car locked) if you press and hold down the boot-release button, it disables the alarm, unlocks the boot and automatically opens it :D when you then close the boot, it autolocks the car, potentially leaving your keys inside

Johnny get it disabled, its a nightmare mate. Unless you think theres a high risk of getting car jacked.

How about a non sensible answer - leave the passengers behind and enjoy yourself in the car

With the boot unlock, the moral is NEVER put your keys down in the boot.

Oh another way to let passengers in if only the drivers door opens, use the anti hijack switch on the drivers armrest ?

I find if I press unlock then press and hold unlock for a very short period works for me. I love the remote boot release but have been paranoid about locking my keys in the boot. :)

I've not had any problems with trying to unlock the passenger doors on my new octy- worked every time for me, when I've needed to unlock the passenger doors.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if you can get the locking system to lock all doors automatically once you set off? If you get what I mean- on the new Mini, you can have it set to lock the doors when you hit 10MPH I think it is.

Can't say I've ever had a problem with one-door unlock on the Fabia. It may surprise some people who've replied to this but I actually got this ENABLED via VAG-COM shortly after getting the car :D

Along with the auto door lock that was already enabled, I think they're good ideas...

When I picked up my new Octy from the dealer, they said that by default this was not enabled, but that it could be changed. I'm thinking that I'll ask them to do so when the car goes in for it's first service.

I imagine that this could be set by yourself if you've got access to VAG-com, but I'm not sure.
