Front road spring change

Featured Replies

Happy Easter Briskodans.

Please could someone post me a link to a 'how to' on replacing Octavia front road spring.

Assume I need a spring compressor, does anyone have one I could borrow or buy? East Anglia near Newmarket.

Thanks.

Mike - it sounds like your guys didn't have a hub spreader.

Front springs aren't overly hard but you do need spring compressors (unless fitting lowered springs - you can get away without compressors) and a home made hub spreader (grind flats on a bolt).

I usually undo the 3x ball joint bolts & pull the lower control arm down with a tie-down strap.  This allows the hub to drop low enough to clear the strut.

I would describe it as being harder than doing brakes but easier than pulling the inlet manifold off.  Probably the same level of difficulty as changing the intercooler.
