Are standard 312mm disc worth selling?

Featured Replies

Just a quick question i am going to be replacing the standard set up on my Oct VRS with the standard 312mm discs TBH theres nothing much wrong with them i am just replacing them due to having a thing about better brakes.

Just wondered if the discs and what not are worth anything

Cheers

I dont understand the question?

Octavia vrs brakes are 312mm anyways and your replacing them with 312mm?

I think Paul is saying he intends to replace the standard 312mm brakes on his Octy VRS with "better" (unspecified size) brakes.

It sounds like he is just fitting new disc's and is asking if the old disc's are worth anything.

The old disc's are worth nothing really after all new disc's are not expensive.

Now if you are selling the complete 312mm front brake set up including caliper's and carriers then they would be worth selling.

Need more info 'Paulbrown' to help..

Sorry....

My questions was I have seen thread on here of people wanting to upgrade to the 312mm for other models and what not.

I am in the next few weeks going to be removing the standard but still working and nothing wrong with them brakes from my car and replacing them with new ones mtec replacements alone with a fluid change and brake hoses.

I am/was unsure on the parts needed for people to upgrade theirs from what size to 312mm as on my old car (vectra B) people used to swap the standard discs for the 308mm ones as a upgrade :)

For the upgrade on a Fabia vRS (for example) you need the calipers, discs and pads. :)

/\ + carriers

On a golf / leon / octy you only need discs pads and carriers as the 288mm setup on those models utilises the same ATE calipers as the 312 setup

I always forget carriers are separate as they are usually stuck to the caliper and its the carrier you are actually unbolting from the car, not the caliper. :D

I think it is the postage costs that would seriously reduce the actual value of used discs.

If they are standard 312mm discs for an Octavia Mk2 (and also a Yeti CR170) and you are near Hereford, I may be interested in them depending upon condition and price.
