Pictures of hatch sunroof.

Featured Replies

Hi there considering buying an estate for the larger boot but mainly because I want the panoramic roof. Was wondering for hatch owners what they thought of the sunroof and if it compares to the panoroof in the estate?

The hatch sunroof is a typical sunroof in that it only covers the front seats.  It is large, but nowhere near the panoramic.  I'm not sure if the panoramic opens any wider than the standard one, but it has far more glass area which really lightens the interior.  I'm not sure if I would pay for the estate, just to get access to the panoramic, but if you want the estate anyway, the roof is quite nice.  The estate is better looking and more practical.  Here is a thread with pics,

I don't have a hatch I'm afraid but I do have a Combi with Pan Sun and I love it!

Getting the estate with the panny roof too. Just have to wait until the end of July to get it ;(

I have the sunroof in my 03 VRS hatch and love it.

Nearly all my cars prior to me buying my mk1 VRS had sunroofs and I really missed it, so when it came to speccing my new one the roof had to be on the options.

As previously mentioned it's not as large as the Pano roof in the Combi, but I think they both open to the same size, but the Pano roof has the large glass section behind the sunroof giving the impression that it's bigger.

The down side of having the roof fitted in the hatch is that 2/3rd's of the main roof is black (sunroof and surround), and the remainder is the actual colour of the car (in my case Race blue), which I think makes it look odd, so I've had the remainder of the roof wrapped black to match the sunroof surround.

However now the wrap has been on the car for a couple of weeks I wish I'd had the roof sprayed, because you can't get the depth of shine on the wrap. So a trip to a body shop is on the cards in the next week or two!

I'll try to get a couple of photo's later.

Andy.

Thanks for that. I'm glad I went for the estate now as though the roof looks good I prefer to have glass for the rear passengers too. (kids at the back really benefit from the extra light I think) I have a fixed glass roof on my current Civic and it makes quite a big difference to the light coming into the car. It doesn't open so will be interesting to get that open air feel and whether the extra complexities of an opening sunroof will produce any issues in the future. (leaking, extra wind noise)

Would like to get the estate roof wrapped too as I think it doesn't look as good having the roof area body coloured around the sunroof.
