1.4 16v AUB gearbox...

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!!

I have a Fabia 1.4 16v AUB with a FDL gearbox,

syncros for third and fourth gear have gone.. cant downshift into third but can up-shift through the gears without too much problem, a bit knotchy in 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th.

problem i have is all the boxes that ive found are very expensive ranging from £150-£900 for second hand boxes...

one other thing, biting point on the clutch is a bit high, and when the car is cold the box will up-shift and down-shift without worrying.. but when its hot i have to hold the gear in, then slowly let the clutch out until the gear bites and pulls itself in.. perhaps clutch not fully disengaging??

i have had a go at "re-syncing" the linkage cables on the box with the little plastic spring loaded gripper things while i had a nail in the "home position" by the gear stick but problem persists.

Do any other boxes fit or do i need to bite the bullet..?

also i get a really jolty/bad running engine after about 3mins of running... i have an o2 sesor fault but could it be a maf or mas sensor causing the problem?

Thanks in advance guys!!

sweet, thanks!

It's far more likely to be the clutch.

The car doesn't have a MAF or MAS , it's more likely that the ECT sensor is playing up.

wheres the gearbox code going to have a look now lol

the car only has 71k miles the code is the first three letters of a 6 letter code on bottom of the box i think,

don't quote me tho, i looked for it and wrote it down on my phone months ago

my bet is, its above the plate that you've got your code from, where all the oil is! ;)

yeah, i have to say they all look identical. im gonna offer these guys £100 for the box http://www.ebay.co.u...G-/200942693704

they are only 10 mins down the road..

still wondering if it might be clutch thats causing it tho

best thing to do is take box off first and have a look see whats going on and if its the box that needs changing may aswell change the clutch while ur at it

yeah clutch will be done at the same time, but im not sure if its fully disengaging.. must be unusual for a box to go at 71k miles?

yeh tbh imo i would say its more likely the clutch but you never know
