Scratches on rear door

Featured Replies

Noticed some scratches and marks on the rear door yesterday when I got home from work:

I know there weren't there on Sunday when I cleaned it, and it wasn't done at work as I park in my own area. We did go to the pub on Sunday night so could have been done then I guess, looks like someone has rubbed past it, perhaps with a bag or something.

Armed with some GTechniq P1 polish, I set about attempting to remove as much as possible. Knowing that I'd only be working by hand, I didn't expect that good a result but I'm reasonably impressed:

Although the light was fading, the above picture has captured most of it but there is just 1 hair line scratch remaining which would improve.

It's a fair result and shows that for some minor damage a machine polish isn't always required.

Aye, good job by hand. It's the sort of Mark I would have mopped on my car. :)

Good result! Often it is easier to just whip out a bit of hand polish than get the machine setup. I must say I'm pretty impressed with the cut of P1 by hand.

P1 is a great polish by hand or with a machine

Well done

Very true, especially so as I don't have a machine to setup!

I was going to try with SRP but felt that the P1 had a better cut, and it worked.

There's very little cut in AGSRP

So a good choice

As above - SRP is more of a filler than a cutter, but I have used it before to machine a final layer of a car before sealing in, and it's to be commended for doing what it does (for something from Halfords :D - doing them a little injustice perhaps)

Well done
