back door will not open

Featured Replies

Hi All

My back nearside door will not open on 2002 Octavia. The lock indicator stays down while the other 3 doors go up and down as key fob is pressed. From the inside of the car when the exit lever is pulled the locking indicator rises but the door wont open.

try giving it a thump beside the lock while pressing the fob at same time.. always worth a try before taking anything apart

it'l be the wiring loom on the door that's buggered had the same problem not to long ago, get the door card and lower b pillar of and have a look

lol same as my other back door stuck closed, got my hands on a second hand lock whipped the door card off and smashed the lock to get the door open,  fitted the new lock to find out it still wasn't working.. ended up being a broken wire beside the plug... so moral of the story double check things before u go smashing things for no reason :nerd: might save you a few quid

Lots of lube and patience.

Or check the wiring etc around it.

Did check the wiring but for £22 quid and 40 mins work not going to break the bank and at lest u have ruled out 1 possible cause

Both my rear doors have done it and both times it was the wiring where it passes threw the rubber tube between door and car

Hi Guys

Looking at the other back door that opens, I can see the door card fixing screws are inaccessible on the locked shut door. So do you have to trash the door card to gain access to the internals ?

Regards

if u remove all the other screws from handle ect and take the seat out u can get one or two of the screws out then it a case of carefully pulling the card away from the door, the screws around the edge are held in by clips and should if your lucky come out without causing any damage to the card

i broke 1 clip and a £2.50 to replace that was it

OK door card is off in one piece, lining on door peeled back but how do I now open the door/undo the lock? Stuck!

Mine did it too. Locked for 4months. Popped randomly one day so soaked it all in silicon oil sprayed in all over it. Gave the locking aa cew cycles with the door open and its been much better behaved.... unlocks 19/20 times now :)

Oct 1,1999 car, rear o/s door will not open, child lock is engaged, have door card off (without too much damage), still cannot open door, what terminals at B pillar or at connection to door lock should have 12 volts etc. can I put 12V directly to a certain pin in door lock connection and "earth" to another to activate lock? I don't want to damage any electronic components and do not wish to have to destroy lock! Any information welcome. Bill
