Tyre pressures - VRS TSI 18 inch wheels

Featured Replies

So, shortly going on long trip in our VRS TSI Hatch, 2 adults, 2 kids and luggage.

Question is, I know what Skoda recommends in the fuel cap for the tyre pressures, however I'm often one day driving in the car with just myself and the next with 3 or 4 people and some luggage and don't want to forever be changing tyre pressures.

What would the recommendation be from the forum, keep the pressures near the high side or lower and as per the recommendation in the fuel cap?

Any pointers would be most welcome.

Given all the power at your right foot, and that 5 up with luggage you can do 0-60 in 6 seconds,

best adjust the tyres to the correct load.

Then when the load is not at the maximum, it just requires letting down the pressure again.

Get a good Tyre Pressure gauge so that when airing up or down you know it is accurate.

Appreciate the response and do have all the accurate tools to do the job, my question was around whether there was an easier pressure to leave the car at, mainly because at the rate in which I carry differing loads I'd be changing pressures about 3-4 times a week.

So what pressure have you been using up to now to get the sort of economy you have been getting.?

5 minutes spent before and after a trip to make a journey as safe as you can for your nearest and dearest must be worth it.

Blowing out tyres when hitting a bad road surface, road work ramp, steel iron work is a horrible thing,

correct pressures do reduce the risks, and tyre pressures set to current ambient temperatures,

because set in a workshop on a cold tyre can be different PSI out on a Hot or Cold day..

Think I'll stick to the recommended levels in the fuel flap and as goneoffski suggest just keep making the changes, after all nothing is worth the risk nowadays!!
