Long life service intervals?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I purchased a fabia 2 1.6tdi elegance estate 12 plate and apart from the dismal dipped headlights and fuel consumption in the low fifty's I have been happy with my purchase.

I bought on 15,000 miles and the service light came on at 20k.

I asked for the service to be changed to longlife as I do a lot of motorway miles.

Im now on 55k and still the service light still hasn't come on.

Should I be concerned its done 35k on same oil?

I have always changed diesels at 12k in the past but I was assured the car would tell me when it was ready.

Thanks,

On Variable Intervals it would usually be getting changed at 19,000 miles or so.

You certainly want the Oil filter changed by 20,000 miles,

so maybe best get a Oil & Filter Service change.

What about any other service and maintenance, have you done some yourself in the time since the last Service?

So I'm right to be worried.

Its just out of warranty at 3yrs so only had the oil change at 2yrs (I bought at 18 months).

Front brake pads still have 4mm on I noticed the other day.

So its had no servicing except for the oils.

Panic over.

Just checked service book and it had one at 39k which I'd forgotten about.

Brake Fluid should be changed at 3 years then each 2 years.

Pollen filter is usually done each 2 years.

Not sure why the Oil Sensor is not working.

Likely they messed up changing over from Fixed to Variable, or your engine has no Oil Sensor.

Variable Service on the engine just after yours.

The Service must have already been on Variable / Long life oil when the Light came on at 20,000 miles for its first Oil & Filter,

or was there a Service done Fixed, 9,400 Miles / 372 Days, and that was a Major Service (2nd) at 20,000 miles.

EDIT,

From your post, i missed above.

So what does the cars Service Indicator show as Miles to Oil Change / Inspection / Service,

or do you not have that on your car?
