Average price for a 215/55/R16 tyre?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Got quoted £56 + fitting at home for a budget tyre for that size and was wondering if that sounds about right? Also does £30 for a repair at home also sound about right?

Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks

What car do you have 215/55 R 16 tyres on.

Average prices might be that, because averages are made of high & low and get an average.

What kind of repair would you get done at home that costs as much as a new tyre fitted at home or a tyre fitting centre?

Plugged?

It depends how budget, if it's Falken/Uniroyal/Nexen/Hankook level that's a good price. If it's Event/Landsail/Nankang/Accelerra it's not, it should be more like £35-40. Why you would want to fit a £35 tyre is another question.

Buy a nice car, pay a lot and fit cheap budget tyres?

The difference between a premium tyre and a budget tyre is not that much, carefully selected, the extra expense is easily justified by better safety, comfort, economy and longevity.

Shop around and youd be surprised at what you can get.

What are you fitting anyway.

1 tyre, because 1 is damaged

or a matching pair, or 4 tyres?

Sorry for the late response. It's my girlfriend's vw beetle 2004. Someone has put a screw through it last night so we don't want to drive it anywwhere and got a quote of £56 for someone to come and replace the tyre on the spot. The tyre is Landsail.

Moving to tyres section then as not relating directly to Fabia II. :)

Just don't. Why put such poor rubber on the car when it is the only thing keeping you on the road.

Spend that little extra and get a decent brand like Falken, Hankook, Goodyear, Michelin etc etc.

Are you sure its 215/55/16? I thought they were usually 205/55/16? That would open you to a whole bunch of better selection

Somehting like the Hankook K415 in 205/55/16 is £68.

Have a look at this: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2012-Autobild-50-Tyre-Braking-Test.htm

Ignore the dry braking and look at the wet braking performance. Nearly 30m difference between the best and worse performing tyre.....
