Flashing EPC light

Featured Replies

Pulling off from standstill with a little speed then power loss (judder) for about 0.5 secs EPC light on then off and back to normal.  Does this sound like a misfire?

Temperature was at 90c and doing lots a starting and stopping around town.

I wouldn't have thought that would have any bearing on the engine as I believe it is just triggered by the throttle pedal, cruise control and traction control. I believe the only engine element it looks at is MAF sensor and Throttle body.

I may be proved wrong but doesn't sound misfire related.

Cheers.  It is booked in on Thursday but just wanted to understand more about what the EPC monitors and being prepared.

have you had any other symptoms of the heistant starts etc

No, Just seems to be in 2nd - 3rd.  It's happened 3 times in 2 months.

Also have a DSG issue at moment so not a happy VRS.   Trying to figure out if the EPC light could be related.

That will be the Mis-Fire.

No Codes Logged because not enough misfires in the Cycle.

If you try again, you might get it again and the light will go out,  try again you will get the EPC & Emission Light,

& maybe even into Limp Mode.

2 Cylinders and the Turbo Shut down.

Plugs need checked now really.

Drive Easy, do not boot it.

If you call Skoda Assist, the AA Man can Read the Codes, but there probably are none,

or if there is, it is Misfire Cylinder 3.

He might say it is the Coil, but will not remove the Plugs.

All 4 need looked at, but likely it is the One with the tip going.  You are lucky when it is caught in time,

and before that Cylinder Misfires under really hard Acceleration, Supercharger & Turbo giving it laldy as

you kick down and go for it,

Often off a Slip Road, or on an uphill.

PS.

You might get an Exhaust Emission Light or EPC,

if you have the car sitting ticking over for a good few minutes, stop and starts,

Like when working on the car, moving it about the drive, Valeting etc.

It is running rich, and cold, and the system is sooting up, and the plugs (1 plug)

But then giving it a blast out the road soon blows away the cobwebs.

But if there is a Failing Spark Plug, Italian Tune ups are the very last thing you want to do.

Got the car back today they did a full road test and diagnostic.

ECU fault code was -   Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor.    Replaced.

Considering I have a High Flow filter and Cat back I wasn't expecting this to be done under warranty but it was.  Cost £0 and I got my car cleaned.

seems I was wrong!!!

Glad you got it all sorted and a free clean.

Happy days

A few have had that already & fuel Pump.

Are the Spark Plugs now checked, and is it getting the DSG checked,. or just waiting to see how things go?

I took your advise last time and had my plugs changed in January so 2000 miles ago.  Hopefully they should be ok.

I asked about the DSG and they could not find any fault as part of the diagnostic.  I asked the service lady about the recall but she didn't know any thing about it but would find out and give me a call.  Will see with that one.

Done 40 miles now and to be honest it feels a lot smoother so will give it a run and see how I get on.

Because they only call it a Recall when they call you.

She needs to go look at the Service Campaign started in May 2014 on the DQ200 for certain of the Boxes,

So with your Reg / VIN she will find out if your car needs the Field Action.

But then she only needed to type on the keyboard and would have had the answer unless the System is down.
