40,000 mile inspection service completed

and all is well.... green everywhere except the rear tyres, uneven block wear on inner edge "causing excessive road noise" ... er , yeah I know, track tyres! pmsl........

and I have gotten rid of the awful £18 brake pads I have been running during the winter for a nice new set of yellow stuff... even on the road the difference is astonishing, all the wooden pedal feel and lack of retardation has gone, I now have awesome brakes again! :)

happy bunny.

they mentioned my spacers in relation to a minor steering issue I had, but when checking all steering components never mentioned the spanking new H&R FARB! lol.....

I also got my bottle of top up screenwash, AND suprise here , a litre bottle of shell helix HX7 professional 5W30 oil to go in the boot :)

all ready for the comming shows and track days!

Interesting, i am almost up to my 40k service, i know my brakes need replacing, so i'm tossing up in my head do i buy the stock brakes or 'upgrade' them, and if i upgrade then will it count as a 'modification' and i will have to declare this to my insurance company?

Also on the upgrade, how much would cost extra above the cost of replacement pads?

Do you have to bypass the wear indicators with the yellow stuff pads? Or are they a straight swap?

my discs were standard pagid replacements, got them off a member here for nothing ( :) thanks James) but they are very cheap for standard discs anyway ,(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eicher-Front-Vented-Brake-Disc-Audi-A3-Skoda-Octavia-VW-Golf-MK4-/231085767551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35cdc8fb7f)  the yellowsuff pads are about £68, a good improvement, but didn't work for me with temps without the fluid doing, I was still loosing the pedal on the track, but ATE racing fluid fixed that , made them track good, so impossible to overdo on the public road :)

as for insurance my company seems very understanding (I have a bespoke commercial policy because of the driving instruction, and business use) they say its just replacement parts (pads are the equivelent of "e-marked" legal for road use, which is why I use yellowstuff instead of say tarox corsa) , same goes for the panel filter (pipercross) , and the springs were dealer fit option from new, so they didn't care about them either.... I'm only paying extra on the insurance for the roll bars... 30% extra on the premium :(

not sure my car has wear indicators..... the yellowstuff dont have a connection anyway ... I knew they were worn out by the grinding and disc damage, (still worked well oddly!) hench the new discs too ;) standard discs are so cheap ,and almost NO more labour costs (I watched them take them off in, like 10 seconds) seems daft to not just change the discs anyway ..

I now have steering wheel vibration after my service, not happy with that :(

Have they Adjusted your tyre pressures,

or knocked off a Wheel Weight, or put the wheels on different sides.

Check the torque the wheel bolts are at.

Directional, so can't be on the wrong side.... No tyre pressure monitor come on ... I am going to check the pressures and torque tomorow... I think they must have knocked a weight off :( gonna have to get them balanced again!

I knew they were directional, so thats why i asked about them on the wrong side, ie had you checked?

Lol , yeah I did check that ;) I gave them a good shake too, but couldn't be arsed to get the torque wrench out today ...
