Fabia Greenline II for me?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Had a change in circumstances recently which means I am going to go from doing approx 6000 miles to 12-15,000 miles.

I will be doing a 25 mile dual carriage way commute mon-fri and at weekends looking at a 180 mile round trip on dual carriage way (a14 specifically).

I currently own a Prius (58 plate) and the readout tells me I am getting about 55MPG overall on these runs, so probably 20% out.

Would a Fabia Greenline be better for me under these circumstance? And would my daily run be good enough for the dpf?

Many thanks all.

Harrison

At 12-15k I would stick with petrol. You need to be doing big mileage to make it worth while. Are you expecting more than 55mpg?

Welcome BTW

Hi - thanks.

I would be expecting something like 60-65 mpg really as I only do 55-65 mph on both journeys as I travel when there is little traffic.

I read the Greenline can get 68+ generally and looking at a calculation this would save me about £25 per month.

Are you saying the cost ratio of fuel worthwhile or something else ?

Less to go wrong really. 12 to 15k really isn't very much. I think the cost of changing the car to save £25 a month isn't worthwhile. I do 15k a year in a petrol and much more confident (touch wood!) Than my old Octavia. That cost £6500 in 4 yes keeping it running; dmf, gearbox, rocker cover, turbo etc etc.

Fair points actually - any other cars worth considering over Prius for my type of driving?

Any reason to change the Prius? We've just got a 1.2 TSI 2010 and that averaged 46mpg on the motorway. My 1.8 TSI will do 39mpg on a run which is good for the vehicle size. Honda civic 1.8 petrol apparently can get a reliable 45mpg. What are your car requirements in other aspects of life?
