Octavia MK I Engine not starting

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I would need some advice please. I got a 2000 Octavia MK I (Diesel) and the engine is not starting at all. How issue started:

Wife left the car in first gear and tried to start the engine which made it jump but was quickly stalled (as it does :) ). Went to start again (this time in netural), but this time nothing happened. It is literally nothing happening. You turn the key lights come on, go out as usual (immobilizer too), turn the ignition and nothing happens (if fans are working then even those stop as you turn the ignition on, which might be normal, I cannot recall now).

Looked through a lot of forums here too and here is what I've done so far:

- Checked fuse box, cannot see any fautly fuse

- Battery is fine, voltage is sufficient (Got replaced about 6 months ago)

- Checked the voltage that is going down to the starter motor when turning the ignition key and from the 12.6 V only 0.05 V can be seen using multimeter.

- So got the famous relay 109 replaced, but no joy.

- Got VCDS-Lite, tried to plug it to the ECU, but received nothing back. Could not find any of the Control Modules, or the ECU.

- Took the ECU out and apart, but cannot see it being burned anywhere.

Any other ideas what could I check, or what I might have missed?

If it looks like an ECU issue then can someone recommend a good place in Hampshire or around to get the ECU tested?

Thanks

Gabor
