Guys, need help here as I'm in the dead end at the moment..

 

On Friday night finally fitted my summer wheels - BBS CH replicas 18x8 ET40 with 225/40 tyres. After browsing the forums I though I was OK with these numbers.

 

Suspension is stock at the moment.

 

So after fitting the wheels the car looks like a tank and definitely needs a drop  -I think I will be OK with Eibachs pro kit 30mm in terms of visual appearance.

 

The only problem is now the rear - with stock shocks/springs doing 70mph on country roads with 4 people crew and 50kg load in the truck, when catching a slight road bump I got a rubbing sound from the rear on the driver's side (two heavier guys were sitting on that side and two light ladies on the passenger's side). Outside of the tyre.

 

After inspecting the tyre it seems that it's only a question of FEW milimeters for the tyre to go into the arch with no problems.

 

So here's my dilemma:

1. I want to stay with these wheels

2. I want (and need) to go lower to get the the better look.

3. Dont want to go with cheap coilovers (expensive ones neither).

 

- So from what I've read it looks like Eibach springs should give me a smaller rebound rate but I will get my arches closer to the tyres by 30mm anyway so I suppose the problem will remain...

Maybe other brand springs could offer better control? PI? H&R? Not planing to go lower than 30-40mm to be safe with stock dampers at the moment.

- As far as I understand I cant make camber adjustments in the rear when doing wheel realignment?

- Maybe some manual inside arch tweaking (rolling arches)? 

 

What would You suggest for poor fellow forum member to solve this issue?

So, when fitting eibachs I've notices it's the inner arch liner that gets the stress. About 2-3mm of it to be specific.

 

So, what could be the solutions?

 

Leave it as it is and hope the tyre will do the job for the liner itself?

 

Or should I cut something out?

 

I'm also worried about dirt then, because in Lithuania roads are quite dirty..
