Octavia Scout - metal engine undertray

Featured Replies

Has anyone any experience of removing it?

Having self-serviced the Superb I'm keen to do the same on our Scout.

The plastic undertray on the Superb was pretty cumbersome to hold in place whilst threading back in the bolts.

I'm guessing the all metal / steel version on the Scout will weigh a ton!

Has anyone removed it and survived!?

Have done it several times, and yes it does weigh a ton.

I tend to put the car on ramps and then use my trolley jack to support, raise and lower the tray in and out of position.

Bungies? Won't hold all the weight but won't hurt

Sounds like it can be done then, that is good!

I'll look to support the front of the car on two axle stands freeing up the trolley jack to lift the undertray then!

I put a bucket under the car, undo the bolts and lower the tray onto the bucket then pull the tray out.

As above,

car on stands.

Use trolley jack to lower/raise tray. It weighs an absolute ton, but at least you know you're not going to trash your sump on a rock!

Also has Bentley stickers on it.

I toyed with this idea when I swapped the oil on our other Skoda (Superb) and discussed the various options here...

I appreciate opinions on sucking out the oil versus dropping it out via the sump plug are varied but I eventually (after quite some deliberation) sided with the old fashioned method.

Now, after manhandling the undertray on the Scout that might quickly change  :D

This is the set-up when I did our other car so it is likely this will work on the Scout, freeing up the trolley jack to support the undertray...

One concern I did have on the Superb was where to locate the axle stands, I chose here in the end...

Is it similar on the Scout? I will take a look this weekend when I have my scruff clothes on!
