Car wont start

Featured Replies

Hi, need some advice. Car (2007 octy 1.9tdi) was going fine all day, then started it tonight and it was jumpy at low revs like dodgy fuel, turned it off and now wont start, glow plug light doesnt come on at all and no warning lights. Am charging my laptop to scan it with vcds and will post results when i do but, does this sound familiar?

Sounds like an ECU failure to me.

Good morning mate.

When was the last time you changed the battery? An ailing battery is well known for causing all sorts of weird and wonderful symptoms on the Octavia, including those that you describe.

Four years or thereabout seems to be the life of an average battery, so it might be worth considering before you start delving deeper.

Good luck & hope this helps.

Dave.

Seems like it was the ecu. Garage tried all the relays etc with no luck so sent ecu to ecu doctor who has repaired it. Dont know what they found as garage hasnt shared report with me yet. They are checking the car for any underlying electrical faults before plugging the ecu back in. Does this seem normal? Is there anything like broken wire etc that could blow the ecu? Im asking as its been 3 weeks and im just a bit worried that there could be something else. The garage are giving me minimal info. Thanks
