Engine advice

Featured Replies

Hi all this isn't Skoda specific really but as the engine I'm asking about is used in the octy I thought I would ask on here before going on audi sport etc....

A friend of mine has a 05 audi a3 1.9tdi engine code is bxc, sadly he neglects general maintenance and has allowed the oil to run very low, now the engine will only turn so far and locks up, (I'm suspecting bottom end issues) I've only been able to have a quick look so far, I plan on towing it to my home tomorrow and taking sump off and inspecting further,

My main question is if engine is indeed broken beyond reasonable repair, I will be replacing it and I'm wondering if the bxe is a direct replacement? as it seems a little more common, (there are more full engines for sale then the bxc) if not is there an alternative?

Cheers

Dan
