Need some Advice

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm looking at departing with my beloved Fabia, ive found a stunner in the form of a VW Polo 1.8T Gti. However its private sale, which means my fabia will have no insurance if i buy the polo until i sell it. If someone wishes to test drive when put up for sale, does this break the law? As its on the road with out insurance. In a bit of a pickle of how to move my Fabia on if i do buy the polo. Never had to sell a car private, as always bought from a garage or Part exchanged.

Some advice on selling the car would be brilliant.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Thanks in Advanced.

James

I'm also after a polo gti 1.8T

Tell me it's not candy white?!

Let me know how you get on with it :)

It will be illegal to keep or drive it on the road if its not insured.

Any buyer will need to get temporary insurance to test drive it. They will not be able to drive it 'because their policy covers them on others cars'.

You also have the issue that if the car is taxed then the DVLA can fine you for not having it insured, but then if a buyer comes with valid insurance and you've SORN'd it then you will be on the road without tax, which again is illegal. I'm waiting for my fine for having a car taxed but not insured with my Fabia that's off the road, I can't be bothered to SORN it only to TAX it again in a few weeks...

Bloody mess imho :(

What was the mileage and price if you don't mind?

Been looking for a white one for a couple of weeks now, only decent one is £7,000 on eBay, bit of a joke :D

it was £6300 with 25k, full service history and optional winter pack . So very bummed its most likely going

Sounds great. I'm looking around £5,000.

Wanting a 2007/2008 with anything under 80,000 miles. Any optional extras are a bonus, quite a lot have heated seats and leather.

Sadly one seen one with the proper maxidot dash so just as rare as the fabias!

I love then, they just look neat tidy and a bit mean, there's a black one 1 mile from my house so may go have a butcher's tomorrow

The downside to me is the road tax price and poor mpg, two things I love about the Fabia.

Maybe I'm just getting old, want to keep it standard, nice and comfy ride but a little sporty, hoping it's going to be nice and smooth like my friends 25th anniversary golf, that just flys but is so smooth about it.

Sick of coilovers and stupidly low cars now!

If you look at the picture of the clocks on number 3 you will see the proper maxidot clocks, unlike all the others which don't really have anything in the middle.

I'm 22 and done my years of average cars haha so now want something a tad quicker ha, same clocks as in my old man's Audi sportback

Yep, good luck finding another polo with them in though!
