A sofa on wheels ?

We , the ROI, usually follow UK ideas but by that we are ahead maybe on the driver training? Mandatory 12hr learning programme was introduced a couple of yrs ago. Is it working? Dont know yet, too early to tell really, but having to now be able to open the bonnet and point out basic stuff like coolant, dipstick use etc has to be beneficial. Programme also has leson 12 as night driving.

Tech has become distracting, but not just the in car. How many dozen people do you see daily using phone while driving -mostly cars with bluetooth! And mostly mummy dropping/collecting kids at school in the smax/quashcow etc.. very important world changing conversations being held no doubt....

Ive been toying with the idea of making motorways safer by making it immpossible to drive down the wrong direction of a slip road - all it needs is a strip of tyre shredders laid so that you can come off the mway but lose all 4 wheels going the wrong way towards a live road. Make them retractable for when its necessary for emergency access or contraflowing a section. Not a major undertaking, and surely the cost would be better than the outcomes of head on collision as a result.
