Central Locking Niggle

Featured Replies

Hi, the central locking/unlocking on my 55 reg Octavia mk2 is playing up occasionally.

When I unlock it with the fob, the passenger doors will unlock but the drivers door stays locked.

Relocating and unlocking with the fob usually opens the door, but westerday I had to use the key to open the drivers door.

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is and how to fix it?

Relocating making it work is odd, I would have thought the CCM is either receiving the unlock instruction or not. If it opens the other doors fine I would investigate the wiring in the driver's door as a starting point.

You could do with getting a vcds scan done to see if any fault codes come up. Its a well known problem that can be for a number of reasons. The multiplug in the door that plugs into the control unit gets corroded where water runs down from the windows. It could also be the wiring harness between the A pilar and door as this goes faulty as over time when the individual wires strands in each conductor break. Failing that it could also be the microswitches on the door mechanism. Good luck
