My mate just picked up a set of dog bone bushes for me but they look like the same part just a different manufacturer. Am I right in thinking there should be a small Bush and one large one?

The RHS one is for pre-March 2008 (around there).  The LHS is the "new" version.  If the OD, bo;t hole & thickness are the same then they should be OK to interchange.

 

I have no idea if there should be a small bush & a large one - I've only ever fitted inserts

I think it is, after all the hassle getting them they were not even needed. The mechanic said mine were fine.
