Will my Skoda breakdown cover a drive to Spain in August?

hummmmm

Cover for repairs while travelling within the EU**

** You pay for any repairs and then claim these costs back from a local member of the ŠKODA UK authorised network. Repairs must be carried out by a member of the ŠKODA authorised network in that country.

I believe that is the same for any manufacturer, certainly was for a friend whose BMW broke down in Germany, he was reimbursed very quickly.

The main thing is to get receipts for everything that you pay out for!

IS there a Skoda network in Spain/France though?

If I have a problem here it would go to a dealer for a fix, I can guess there is a VW and Seat network

For peace of mind, I always take out additional cover to the standard Skoda cover. As SWMBO doesn't drive, I want to be covered in case anything happens to me ie if I broke my leg and couldn't drive. I'm also covered for various costs if I have an accident and have to leave the car for repairs.

I've done this when I've been in my MkI and MkII Superb and we've driven to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Austria and Switzerland. So far, we've never needed the extra cover. The only incident was in Italy when the glowplug light started flashing on the MkI. We went to the Skoda agent in Trieste and they looked over the car and said it was a faulty fuel gauge sensor and advised us to not rely on the gauge but to keep it topped up until we returned home. They were very helpful and didn't want payment, even though the car was over three years old, but I gave them 10 Euros for their trouble.

We're off again at the end of May to Heviz in Hungary to spend 10 days in the spa resort at the thermal springs. We'll visit Czech Republic on our outward leg and visit friends in Munich on the way home and we'll be gone for nearly 3 weeks. The breakdown cover is for 24 days and costs £36.95, so I think it's worthwhile.

Years ago my Montego TD clutch started slipping after 4 miles from home, I only told the wife as we boarded the ferry at Dover, we were 2 adults, 3 kids and a trailer tent, I was very light on that throttle, and that Central Massif looked scary from the bottom, but we got to Spain, I had the clutch done, paid and reclaimed the money back home

It was only when the garage told me the CLUTCH was fine but the arm was tight in the bellhousing hole to operate the clutch i remembered i had the same occur on a Maestro TD, £3 worth of Plus gas woulda sorted it
