I'm after some advice please. I have a mk5 golf gti BWA engine. I recently fitted a p flo induction kit on a standard ecu, but now it seems to feel slower from low revs than with standard airbox, almost like its more laggy. It also makes a high pitched whistle high up the revs. I am wanting to go stage 2 eventually, would I still have the loss of torque & the annoying whistle after the map? Or am I better off with a decent panel filter if I want a better fast road car, instead of having all the power at higher rpms

Have you fitted the correct ecu?

EDIT read as engine had been swapped.

I'd only go with a full induction kit beyond Stage-1 personally. I know that with some fitted, to either standard cars or those with a Stage 1 map, it can actually result in less power.

If you're in the pursuit of more power beyond Stage 1, then keep it fitted and have it mapped to suit. Depends on how long you intend on running it as standard for though?? If you're talking months, rather than weeks, stick with standard induction and the panel filter, until such time that you're upgrading other parts.

Presume you're also aware of what other parts are required for performance beyond Stage 1?

I think that's why its running a bit worse as its on stock ECU, however I will be going stage 2 eventually. But it maybe a few month until I get the map as Im doing other work to it before to make sure it will be running right & to its full potential, looks like stock airbox will be going back on until ready to map.

Yes I know the requirements, catless downpipe etc. Thanks for your advice pal.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get the engine de-coked? Got a slight misfire on tickover due to carbon build up. Must be in West Yorkshire area preferably.

Thanks

You mean stock mapping on the ECU, there's a slight difference ;) - people will think you'll want to swap the entire engine management

De-coke - I'd be tempted to give ABC in Leeds area a call, based on your location - see here for a bit of info and feedback, they seem like a decent place:

Who are you going to use for mapping? This can also make a difference, especially as you already have that induction system bought and ready to go.

Will have a look at them thanks mate

I'll be going to Premier Tuning based in Halifax/Bradford area, they've got good reviews. They turned my old Leon Cupra Tdi into a beast ;)  had a good look into the map with Vagcom & everything is fine. A mate of mine had his stage 2 GTI mapped by them, it now blows away S3's & Golf R's for fun. That's enough for me B)
