PO301 code and problems Engine warning light(EWL)

Featured Replies

Hope someone could give me some advice? I have a Fabia 1.2, 2006. 96000 on clock, Motored really well until the last month. Had the following problems and now being faced with a £800 bill. I have no idea once the bonnet is opened.

When idle car stared to feel noisy and juddery.

4 weeks ago EWL came on. Had RAC out told me Coil pack default cylinder NO1 - get it changed. This I did, and replaced the other two as well.

A week later while doing 70 on motorway...EWL cam on again.

Had RAC out said PO301 fault and PO420. Cleared it and said get it looked into.

Took it to garage they "swapped coils and injectors around".

One day later

EWL come on again. PO301. EWL flashed and felt very judderery, missing, bounced down road.

Now garage saying will need to strip engine down and "redo" the cylinder? Is this the norm, is this what should be done? What if the other two cylinders go in a months time? Another big bill? Could/should i drive from Sheffield to Manchester  really need to go there this weekend?

Any advice whould be greatful, all the lads at work telling me its this and that, thought I'd come on here and ask the experts?

Cheers

Andy

Hi they do suffer with valve problems which can cause misfires. I am in Sheffield so if you want a second opinion let me know

so You've had a misfire on cylinder 1.

replaced the coils and swapped the plugs.

then the faults have returned but a misfire and a catalyst fault this time?

have the plugs been removed and inspected? you can gauge what's happening in a cylinder very well by the condition of the plugs alone.

has a compression and cylinder leak down test been carried out? that'd narrow down valve issues before the head would have to come off.
