Hi looking for a good independent Skoda mechanic in Edinburgh or Perthshire , so far nobody can get to the bottom of our Roomster going into limp mode and the glow plug lights coming on, main dealers have sofar proved useless, it gets plenty of long runs but as soon as it does a short trip in Edinburgh the glow plug lights up, it a 1.6 diesel

Maybe tell us about your car then if professionals are failing to diagnose and fix your issue.

 

When was your car built,

how many miles covered,

what service or warranty history, fuel filter changed etc.

How long have you had it

& where do you buy your diesel?

EGR malfunction? Had mine replaced under similar circumstances, it was not clogged but the operating cam had rust/crud causing it to stick. (I kept the old part to investigate and service it as a spare.) The job was not cheap - around £700 at an indy garage.

Went to Perth Garage today and they think they have found the fault, turbo boost sensor if they have its a first, will know Friday when the fit the Sensor

That was my initial thoughts but turns out to be it may be the turbo boost sensor

Pragmatix. I hoped the independant in Edinburgh was okay as I've recommended to it a friend for there Beemer. What was the issues?

They changed there minds on the price, from an initial quote and as it was a quote not an estimate that should have been the price, the work was ok but no cheaper than a main dealer, plus point they did pick up and return the car to work
