Thoughts on a Remap for the 1.2TSI

Featured Replies

I am looking for thoughts from Mk3 owners on remapping the 1.2tsi. Since 2006 I have remapped 4 of my cars, both turbo diesels and petrol and noticed considerable gains in drive ability. On checking 2 of the Companies I have used in the past, they quote increases for the 105 (103 bhp). The latest version of the Mk3 is 108bhp although quoted torque figures remain the same. Both companies quote a rise to around the 130 bhp mark.

I am also considering. But I think the engine in the Mk3 is not really the same as in Mk2, the difference is bigger than only 5 hp. I have contacted a few dealers, but they do not yet have the remap ready for this new engine in the Fabia. Quite a few list the same engine for Golf VII, though.

Are you not going to give it 1 year to see how these engines are and if any snagging issues before voiding your warranty on the engine?

Valid point. If I do go ahead it will be at least a year. The 4 cars I had remapped gave me no problems whatsoever and the one that I kept for 4 years sailed through both Mots. I have always went with a reputable company who achieve realistic gains as opposed to some who quote fantasy figures.

That's what I thought. I don't think it will be too long before it's available due to the engine being used in various cars.

I doubt that the likes of APR, REVO, Superchips or Shark Performance are going to be quoting anything other than the Performance that can be realistically achieved with a Stage 1 Map.

The difference now is the Euro 6 Emission part of things, and there is no mention yet of changes to UK MOT's before 2018 when a Remapped Car will need a MOT.

Surely the Remapped cars will meet the Emissions anyway, and you can always just revert to the standard mapping anyway.

It will be interesting to see just which are the first to Provide Remaps for the 1.2 TSI Euro 6 engines in the UK if they are not already.

a garage i asked for a quote on a map for  my roomster just out of interest charge 200 but not a lot difference maybe its because its an 07

but on their advert they say they have 2015 maps for skoda mart remaps they are called and everything comes gauranteed remove in 14 day if not happy lifetime gaurantee

That will a 'Life Time Guarantee on what they Uploaded to your ECU, then removed if you requested',

It is not Replacing the Warranty on the engine that the Manufacturer will say you Invalidated on the Engine when you Remapped even for 1 hour, or 2 weeks.

If you want a Warranty / Guarantee in the UK that Replaces the Manufacturers Warranty on the Engine when the company do a Remap then the cost of the Remap will be a lot more than £200.

Read the T&C's in the Superchips Warranty and others.

& read the Warranty Booklet & Exclusions that comes from Skoda UK for the 3 Years Warranty.

http://www.superchips.co.uk/s/warranty

If you want to remap then just accept you need to pay for Hardware Failures yourself if the Software not Factory Approved is on the ECU or was on the ECU

in the past.

You might be covered, but the Warranty Provider makes you jump through hoops often.

See Page 6.  Exclusions. Engine Management Software / Non Factory Approved.

Lots of Enhancements and Power Hikes that you get from Tuning Companies on New VWG Cars ike in Germany that Do have a Warranty are Tuning Boxes, and then Remaps cost big money because the Warranty is an Insurance Policy.

In the UK a Guarantee is only as good as the Underwriter / Company and the Sale of Goods Act & UK Law. Different in the Different

countries of the UK when you need to pursue a Company for losses.

So if a UK Tuner Gives a Guarantee or Warranty, fair enough if they have the Insurance Cover / Policy that pays out,

and do not just Rubber You if things ever did go t1ts up..
