I recently fitted a kenwood dnx525 to my superb estate.

The dab reception is spot on, however the FM/MW/LW reception is bad to none existant.

The adaptor is plugged into the only double plug it will fit, and the ariel power (Booster?) is plugged in.

If I can find an fm station like radio 2 manually it's okay, but it will not find any stations at all, and MW/LW just don't seem to work at all, I can't get radio 4 LW even if I tune it manually.

any ideas what I might have missed, or if there something I need to swap over, change or fiddle with

I haven't done anything like this so the following is an educated guess:

 

1) is the DAB aerial different to the one for AM/FM - the manual suggests they are.

2) are you sure that the power to the AM/FM aerial amplifier is actually present? How is it being fed. On the one occasion that I fitted an after market stereo to a VW group vehicle, I had to buy an adaptor which fitted to the aerial plug with a power lead coming from it which had to go to the switched 12V feed to the unit. From memory, there was a socket on the unit I bought

3) If, by any chance you are using the feed from the DAB aerial power supply to feed the AM/FM aerial, then that supply needs to be turned on in one of the set up options.

Just temporarily refitted my old columbus unit and there's no problems with fm/MW reception there.

Tried disconnecting the gps and dab ariel, but still naff all reception

Is it possible for the kenwood adaptor to be duff, or the power going to it?

appears its a duff antenna adaptor.

 

spent £10 in halfords on a new one, and i now have lots of FM radio stations, as well as radio 5, and best of all, radio 4 LW (for the cricket tragics among us!)

 

holiday in france can now go ahead without any gnashing of teeth!

Hi I have problem with my DNX525DAB, problem with Traffic Life, sometime work, sometime not work... Do I need buy Duff antenna adaptor?
