Remapped ecu swap advice please

Featured Replies

After abit of advice, I recently bought some parts off a lad and his car was running 260bhp.. I managed to get near enough all the parts but missed out on the injectors he was running, my question is, if I buy the same injectors and fit his ecu what would I need to do for it to work on my car, are the keys programmed to the ecu like in most cars? Is there a way round this without wiping the map off the ecu? Any help much appreciated :)

Welcome to the forum.

Just being nosey, what sort of parts did you get, and was this because he was breaking the car and it was off the road, crashed or the likes.

I am always suspicious with parts like this incase its from a nicked car.

Was the car running when you got the parts so you know it was putting out 260bhp ?

I would say that you could download the map off the ECU. Actually getting it to work with ANOther car (swap ECUs) would need a specialist who knows what they are doing. Off the top of my head you've got the dash cluster and the central convenience ECU and the immobiliser to worry about.

Sounds like a big job then I was only seeing if I could do it this way as I'd save on the mapping side, as I'm now skint and I still need a clutch next! The car wasn't running when i got the parts he had already stripped it, but he still had it outside his house, reason being was he wanted to build another Clio turbo to 400bhp.. The parts I got:

Gtb2260

Darkside manifold

Darkside down pipe

Darkside egr delete

Darkside cone filter

Custom 3" exhaust back (de cat)

Darkside front mount and pipe kit

The bits I missed were firad 80% injectors and the long ratio box and clutch

He was also running maff less is there any reason for this do you think?

A clio Turbo - now that would be interesting to drive !

The blower will make short work of your clutch if you already need a new one. Have you made sure there is no play or splits in the gear? I would be concerned if I had not seen them 'in action' that's all.

Sounds like you've got most of the setup needed though, just an inter cooler, some bigger brakes and a map next.

I used to have a 172 cup belting cars can't imagine one with a turbo it would be unreal as the ha selling is spot on!! The clutch is handling it for now it's only got a generic 170bhp map at the min, I have the intercooler I bought that brand new at weekend from Darkside, the brakes are getting upgraded this weekend too 312mm front and 256mm vented rear all coming from the same guy I got the turbo from, just the clutch maybe nozzles and map now then if I can't use the ecu in question :)
