Standard Services Rapid 1.6tdi

Featured Replies

Car is a Rapid 1.6tdi 90ps.

Had it about a week, and it's just right for my needs  (in fact, quite surprised by it compared to my MX5!)

However the dealer has, as dealers will, offered me a service plan.

It lists 3 sorts of service (yup, 3!) these are

1) An oil change service (I think this is the one where I change the oil anyway twice as often as the recommended interval). This is 10k miles from the last recorded service

2) A "20/60/100k Service". This is 10000 miles later

3) A minor service! This is 10000 miles after the "20/60/100k" service

4) What a "Haldex" gearbox service is (my friend has this on his Audi TT quattro, I thought it just applied to the 4-wheel drive system)

i.e. these are at 10k intervals from the last service it had before I bought it!

BTW the car is on a variable service interval according to the service history/sticker in boot/maxi dot display, so from my viewpoint I need just to have the car serviced "properly" to keep the rest of the 2-year warranty valid, and will slot-in oil changes etc, myself inbetween times.

You can guess whats coming now can't you, given the vagueness of the owners manual - so

Where can I find out (independently of the dealership)

a) The proper content of these services (I can guess the oil change one!)

B) The torque wrench setting for the sump drain plug (and oil filter if it isn't just hand-tight)

c) When the cambelt change is supposed to be

d) Does the car need gearbox/diff oil changes like my MX5 (which I think is unusual in this respect)

6 months or more ago, there was a thread about service manuals with links to online sites to download from.

Search all Rapid threads for "Service manual" I reckon.

Sorry, this didn't get me very far. I've done the search of this forum and googling til I'm blue in the face, maybe I'm just missing something ...

I've just had a 1st service on mine, they did the £139 service, which is basically an oil change and visual check over. At the 2nd service they do a little more and actually remove the wheels for a brake check.

Ok mine is a Toledo, same as the Rapid and petrol so guess you will be getting the same service for your derv save maybe for a diesel filter change (if they change them that regularly now. The 3rd service is a repeat of the 1st service I was told, mine is on a 10k/12 month service schedule now as I had it switched from 18k/24 month (or may have been 18 months??)

What Skoda do for your money below, it's basic info but waht they carry out and did with my cars (Citigo, now Toledo)

Incidently I had mine done by a Skoda dealer as the Seat dealer wanted £179 for the same stuff. :peek:  (1st service)
