VRS intermittent power loss

Featured Replies

Advice needed!

I am a total novice when it comes to mechanics so please go easy!

I own a 06 Fabia VRS and have had it from new. It currently has 106 000 on the clock and is regularly serviced.

Problem I am having is that there is an intermittent power loss whilst driving and then it cuts out completely! Not very safe when doing 70 on the motorway! It still pulls fine on acceleration the rest of the time.

I have had two garages plug in to check for fault codes but nothing shows up! Any ideas on what this may be?

I have had the fuel filter changed recently.

Apart from cam belt change and regular services, this is a standard VRS!

Thanks in advance.

Checked fuel flow? Can you hear the pump prime before you start?

Thanks for your reply, I will listen out for this over the weekend. As for fuel flow, I will get someone to check this for me. Is it obvious if it's not flowing correctly?

I think if you remove the fuel filter and direct the hoses into a container you would soon tell. If the fuel is only a dribble then I'd suspect a fuel flow issue.

Alternately I suppose you could put clear piping inline on the fuel hoses and visually check for air bubbles.
