poss inner cv prob

Featured Replies

Hi all , i noticed a vibration through the cabin last night whilst on motorway , so i jacked car up when i got home , all wheel bearings feel fine , no play or groaning , or roughness , however i did notice that when you rotate the front passenger wheel back and forth you get a delay in the driveshaft turning , so i did the same test but holding the inner cv joint and you can feel a slight knock when you do this , its as thou the race turns then the balls catch up (if thats even poss ) car has done 130k and i dont have any reciepts that they have ever been changed , so my question is , do i change just the inner or try to get a complete shaft? also any ideas where from , i see j&r do shafts , but i see some bad reviews !!!

please help .regards tony

Anyone ??

Not often inner shafts wear out, it's usually the outer. In fact I think I've only ever changed one, and then it was a complete driveshaft as the gearbox side wasn't available.

I know you get a slightly delay most the time anyway so can't give advice on if that's the problem or not.

If you suspect it is, maybe look out for a good second hand one so if it isn't that you've only lost £20 maybe.
