How much approx to replace exhaust on my Skoda Fabia 1.2HTP ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My exhaust is looking a bit tired with rust and deposits flaking off and ideally it could do with replacing. So that I'm not ripped off in any garage what is the approx I should be paying parts and labour for a new exhaust system?  (I have a Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP 2003 reg)

thanks,

Regards,

Apart from it being tired and rusty - is there anything wrong with it? Are there any holes, cracks or breaks in it?

On the price side of things you could always call an auto parts company and get a quote for the exhaust. That should give you a rough idea of the part cost. If it is just the mid section and back box that wants replacing, you could perhaps allow two hours of labour?

Thanks, Im not sure about the cracks or breaks - it would be quite noisy if there was id assume so I don't think so, although when I bought the car a year ago there was an advisory that the exhaust was in poor condition.

Leave it alone until it fails an MOT, or gets horribly loud because of a blow.

As soon as you touch the rear or centre sections, if the front pipe is original, that'll probably break at the flexi, then you're into trying to undo a lambda sensor and replacing front pipe and it'll turn into a bigger job with teeth getting sucked and your wallet depleted.

Leave it alone until it fails an MOT, or gets horribly loud because of a blow.
