Expensive Fabia!!!

Featured Replies

I've just signed off on a Fabia estate "Tundra" 1.4/75hp, manual. Looking forward to recieving it on Wednesday. :D

I suppose the "Tundra" is a special danish/nordic winter edition, - actually a normal ambiente with a few extras, rails, sunset tints, and a few other bits n' bolts. Very common stuff all in all, - it even comes with a casette player.

The expensive part, it cost's 17k GBP...

Actually the cheapest skoda in DK from new, 1.2/fabia hatchback "classic", costs about 13k GBP.

Great to be here Briskoda seems to be a really cool place :)

Welcome, Karsten. :D

DK = Denmark yes :) & Welcome

IIRC the car tax is very, very high on new cars

Strewth, Cant you import one from Holland?

IIRC cartax is 100%, then VAT on top, also again IIRC, still have to pay the very high tax :(

@matt

could you not buy a car from the UK and drive it back?

Why is the new car tax so high !?!?!?!? Does denmark have two many cars on the road ?

What are prices of second hand cars like over there?

In the uk there are always lots of nearly new cars for sale , only a few months old with a couple of thousand miles on them and you can save quite a lot compared to new cars.

Do you have this in Denmark still with that much tax payable?

How are second had cars taxed?

The atrocious taxes in DK have been tried at the EU...

It seems all is legal and it seems there is not much to do about it!

The tax rate is the same reason why there is a pretty good aftermarket for certain automobile parts, - any part installed from the manufacturer is taxed. My Fabia estate "ambiente" comes installed with a casette player, no speakers in the back and other price shavers.

Does anyone have any good hints to installing speakers in the back of a Fabia estate? speaker dimensions etc... I imagine the wiring for the speakers is in place.

While installing a new cd/mp3 player and back speakers, perhaps I should upgrade the speakers in the front as well, -any tips? I'll check the ICE part of the forum.

The cheapest Fabia estate for sale at the moment is "only" GBP 9k.

The three cheapest Fabia estates:

Fabia estates (BilBasen)

The rear speakers are (I think) 4*6 inch oval ones.

The standard speakers in the front are pretty good (in the uk models at least) so you might want to try a new cd player first then do the speakers if you think it needs them

Welcome. Used to know a girl @ uni from Bakkee, remember being shocked when she said income tax was about 50% :eek: , guess taxes are quite high ?

ttfn Karl

IIRC there are some exemption - taxi drivers for example - and if the car is bought new in Germany and left there for 2 years, then you can import it without getting hit with that level of tax.

Denmark and the UK just don't compare in their attitude towards cars - it is a very different attitude however, and it works for them :)
