Turbo boost noise (squeeling)

Featured Replies

Hi guys my fabia vrs has been making a weird squeeling type noise while on boost between 2-3000 revs seems to do it most while accelerating out of corners and in 3rd n 4th gear boost pipes av been checked n seem ok although a mate has said he saw abit of oil coming from intercooler which I'm guessing is really bad any ideas? Thank

Intercooler is the low point in the system. A mix of oily, sooty, watery crap oozing is not uncommon and not, in itself, something to worry about.

The squeal might be problematic, but only IMO if it's suddenly started doing it. Might be indicative of anything from a boost leak to a knackered turbo or a slipping alternator belt or similar.

If everything checks out, have a look at the "Mr Muscle turbo treatment" topic.

J.

Check the intercooler ive just replaced mine with a fmic due to the intake rubbing through the intercooler.

Mines been doing this for a while, then loss of power and found out turbo is a goner, 150k.

Yeah sounds abit like that with a tad more squeek with the loud whistle is there such thing as a service for turbos to make sure there ok inside. It's only got 72k on clock but does sound similar to that clip :(

You could have a look with an inspection mirror mate. You would need to jack the car up on the drivers side (support with an axle stand, would never advice working under the car with just a trolley jack or the likes) this will let the suspension drop and the driveshaft will sit slightly lower giving you a bit more room to get in and remove the air inlet from the turbo. This turbo hadn't covered 30k when it got in this condition but I don't think it wasn't right from when it was fitted.

I think we decided this would have been caused by impellor erosion caused by badly filtered air. Still not 100% sure how it occurred though.

Went up the garage who is doing the job and the turbo defo shot, should be done next week hopefully.

How much was it for the turbo fixing? It sounds like air rather than a belt almost like there's something stuck in the inlet causing it whistle while it's boosting not whistling at all when boost is winding down will have a look at weekend with my mate to check air flow
