Speed cameras on Satnav

Featured Replies

I have a new octy coming in a month with the factory Satnav option.

Is it possible to add Speed Camera locations as POI's?

Any ideas anyone?

Doubt it since all info is on CD that can't be written on. Could try looking at the forums at www.pocketgpsworld.com

Thanks for the links but it is the factory Satnav (nexus model) I am talking about.

The site is only for portable from what I can find!

ALthough I am happy to be proved wrong!!!!!

If you go into the forums and scroll down you will see one for In car manufacturers systems. May have some info in there, but as I said before I think it likely that you will not be able to input anything unless the system has an SD or CF card slot for such input.

The other problem is that the camera database on this (and most other sites I know) are written for the normal handheld systems such as Tom Tom or Garmin etc and probably would not work with the software on your built in one. But I could be wrong.

Could always go mad and ask the dealer - sorry silly suggestion.

Probably uses the teleatlas disks same as older OE navigation unit and as far as I am aware the latset disk does not have camera sites indicated. You will have Skoda garages though show up on the screen with a small Skoda logo!

And if you want the Skoda dealers to show on your Tom Tom system, there is a thread somewhere on this board where you can download the POI.

Sorry, I know thats no help for the original question

Is there any way of getting speed camera POI (points of interest) onto the new Octavia sat nav system.

With the forthcoming laser detector ban etc POI's will be more important, however looking at a new VRs do I upgrade for the sat nav or transfer my existing IPAQ set up????

Certainly not worth adding the OEM satnav as a factory option.

The only way I can see to add them as a POI would be to disassemble the data on the disk and add the co=ordinates in the same way before burning to a new disk.
