Easiest place to find a 12V ign feed?

Featured Replies

I have a new Octavia Estate  I am in the process of installing a charger/GPS receiver for my XDA IIs PDA. Can some one suggest an easy location to get a 12V ign feed from? I would also welcome any recommendations for a good location to hide the receiver behind the dash.

Thanks in advance :)

The other thread has gone so I guess we are sticking to this one. Sorry about askin' in both sections I'm a bit new here :o

Probably a feed off the back of the radio is best. The Cig lighter socket is permanent live so you'd not have much battery left after a while.

Do you want a permanent live? Or an ignition live?

Permanent take down the glove box, nice hidey place up behind there, nice perm 12V feed on the bottom of the blower motor. Ignition live, run a wire across to the fuse box on the drivers side. There are some spare fuse holes on the left hand side, they are igniton fed. I usually feed a spade terminal into one of these.

Cheers Lummox, in the end I usd the groung and perm live behind the headunit. Ideally I wanted an ignition feed but I dont suppose my gps receiver will flatten the battery too quickly. Its been fine permanently connected to the ciggy lighter wich is a permanent supply.

I couldn't live anymore with my gps receiver/phone holder stuck to the windscreen. It was fine in my van as it was a noisy vehicle. The silence of the Octavia however has unmasked an annoying squeeking noise  it also looked **** so all the receiver gubbins is now hidden in the dash with a slender phone holder to the lef of the console. I'll post some pics if you like. :)
